They have been trying to push these headsets since the 80s – and it will never work because it is 100% immersive (in the sense it takes up 100% of your time and attention). Why on earth would you want the screen to be right by your eyes, when you can just do it on a laptop? The culture now is to sit and look at screens flicking and tapping whilst doing other things as well (e.g. sat at home watching something whilst also playing on phone).

It won’t ever take off – it seems good only for a small number of niches like video gaming, and even then the headset is so limited because it can’t run anything more than basic graphics due to hardware size.

Seriously – who imagines there being any benefit in putting the screen right by your eyes, as opposed to just on a computer screen – not to mention the crippling headaches.
